Wearing Cowboy Boots Without Socks – Are You Serious

You know, I can’t even believe I did some research on this, but there seems to be kind of a “thing” about wearing cowboy boots without socks. Who in the heck does this and why? I guess in a way I posted a question, can you wear cowboy boots without socks? If you don’t, I have some serious questions for you!

I guess the answer to that question would be yes, but why would you? I really have no desire to stick my dogs in there and find out how it feels. I’m gonna totally rely on what I find online for this one, but I feel like it’s not gonna be positive. When it comes down to it, like everything else in life, it’s your choice. If you don’t want to wear socks, knock yourself out.

Why Would You Wear Boots Without Socks

This right here is the main question in my opinion if you ask me. Now I know when girls are wearing cowboy boots with say a skirt or dress, it appears that they don’t have socks on. This just isn’t so. The boot shaft is usually pretty high and extends way beyond the sock. I actually have often wondered if this is uncomfortable because it looks like the shaft would rub and chafe your shin. Does this happen at all? If so please comment at the end of this post because I’m curious as hell!

Now there are only 2 reasons I can think of for not wearing socks with a pair of boots. The first is the one that I’m a little concerned about. For some reason “you like it”. The second reason is because somehow you are out and about and you lost your socks. Maybe at a friends house or a hotel room or something. How could this happen you say? Come on, I’m sure you have seen crazier things happen. If you haven’t, move to Florida and you soon will.

To be truthful, I had a friend crash on my couch one night. He took his cowboy boots off and for some reason his socks. When he got up in the morning to leave, one of his socks was missing. I think he spent all of about thirty seconds looking for it. He couldn’t find it so he put one sock on and then both boots. Walked right out of the house wearing cowboy boots and barefoot in one of them. Of course, he accused me of taking it, but what would I want with just one sock? I wold of taken both of them!

That’s pretty much it though on my personnel experience in not wearing socks with cowboy boots. I’ve worn boat shoes without socks as to be expected. Even worn running shoes without them, but that’s completely different. If you have any stories about this, please leave them in the comments below.

Someone Asked, Won’t Your Feet Stink?

You might look at the title to this paragraph and say, “that’s a good question!”. In my opinion, not really. To me it’s an obvious question. Now maybe this depends on the person, but with me, there isn’t gonna be much of a question. If my bare feet are in there over 30 seconds, there’s gonna be some trouble brewing! Hot and sweaty with no air flow is a recipe Martha Stewart wouldn’t touch. When I was a teenager going through puberty, my feet were absolutely horrendous. That statement is not even an exaggeration. I walked into my aunt and uncles house one night to visit my cousin. Made sure I was super quiet and I took off my shoes by the front door. A couple minutes later my aunt starts screaming from her bedroom on the second floor. Couldn’t mistake the words “Tommy wash your feet!”. No kidding, that actually happened and that was wearing socks in a pair of sneakers. I can’t even imagine if I had been going bareback in a pair of cowboy boots!

Today my feet have calmed down from the time I was 15, but I’m not gonna tempt fate. As I said earlier, I guess it all depends on the person. I have a rule at my house though which is you have to take off your footwear at the front door. If you aren’t wearing socks with your boots, you most likely won’t be invited over! I really don’t want to open up Pandora’s boot and find out.

Isn’t It Uncomfortable Not Wearing Socks With Boots?

I guess the comfort question is actually more important to me than the stink issue. I mean in most cases and situation it would be. From the get go, cowboy boots just don’t even look very comfortable (as far as not wearing socks goes). Throw in no socks and that’s strike 2 maybe even 3. I feel like I would have at least 2 or 3 blisters on each foot. I know any decent cowboy boot is made out of some sort of leather just like boat shoes, but come on. There’s no way they could remotely be close to feeling the same. If you are home right now, do me a favor and pull off your socks and walk around in a pair of boots. Please let me know below what that feels like. Are you gonna want to walk around like that for any extended period of time? I seriously doubt it.

What Are Some Of The Best Socks To Wear With Cowboy Boots?

I figured after all of this craziness about not wearing socks in your favorite pair of boots, I had to mention a solution to this problem and that of course is a pair of socks. Yeah, I know, what a big surprise! If you are like the 99.99999% of the population that does wear socks with boots, then I recommend the best.

For the guys, I recommend the Thorlo western dress socks. You can get them in white or black and they are specifically made to wear with western wear such as cowboy boots. It has a spandex top which keeps the sock to stay in place all day and not slide down your leg.

    Men's Western Wear Socks

For the ladies , you actually have more choices if you ask me and a whole lot of cool boot designs to choose from. Double D Ranch and FBF have some socks that I’m sure you will find super cute! they all have different designs on them ranging from horses, saddles, guitars, etc on them. One pair the entire socks looks like a horse head and if by far my favorite. The link goes to Pinto Ranch. They are known specifically for their amazing cowboy boots and their customer service. Now their socks might be worth mentioning also. All of these socks are specifically made for western wear and I’m sure you are gonna love them!

The Verdict Is Out – The Winner, Socks By A Mile

Yeah, without ever had wearing cowboy boots without socks, I’m making the call! I kind of feel like this has been having a person on trial and finding them guilty without any hard evidence. But guess what, I’m okay with that!

Once again, this is an opinion piece, but please do me a favor. If you are one of those unusual people that go barefoot in boots, please let me know below. I want to know the whole story. Who, why, when, what it feels like, etc… Inquiring minds want to know.

Normally at the end of a post I saw something like “I hope we’ve helped you find your new favorite pair of cowboy boots!”. Since this really isn’t a review or helpful info on finding cowboy boots, I guess we will change it up a little. I hope we’ve helped you find your new favorite pair of socks!

  • What Are Some Cowboy Boots Made In The USA – Here Are Some To Get You Started!

What Are Some Cowboy Boots Made In The USA – Here Are Some To Get You Started!

I was sitting at my computer browsing for a pair of boots and started thinking what are some cowboy boots made in the USA? This is something I have been taking for granted. I hadn’t really thought about it and just assumed all cowboy boots were made here.  I’ve never seen a western based in England lol. I did a little research and this is what I found.

You can find several brands of quality cowboy boots made right here in the USA and most seem to made in Texas. Brands such as Lucchese, Ton Lama, Stallion, Rios of Mercedes are just a few companies that make men’s and women’s western boots made in the USA. Texas is definitely the “hub” of some of the best cowboy boots designed and manufactured in the United States.

Are Tony Lama Boots Made In USA?

At first glance, you may look at the name “Tony Lama” and ask yourself, where in the heck could those boot possibly be made? Tony Lama is definitely an established boot company founded by Italian immigrants way back in 1911. Anyone who knows the slightest bit about cowboy boots knows the name Tony Lama. Known as “The boot of the American west”, a pair of Tony Lama boots scream commitment, quality and the American dream. A pair of these boots will definitely elevate you in the cowboy community so to speak lol.

From what I read, Tony started in the leather and boot trade as an 11 year old. Lol, you aren’t really gonna see that happening in today’s world. He was shoemaker’s apprentice in New York. After that he joined the Calvary (insert bugle charge) and was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. When he got out, he stuck around and opened a shoe and boot repair shop (naturally). The biggest part of his business was of course repairs, but he started making boots here and there and people absolutely loved them! If you think about it, I’ve never heard a bad word against Italian made shoes. It didn’t take long and western wear stores started asking him for his custom-made handmade boots. One thing that Tony Lama is attributed is the process of creating handmade boots in greater quantity. A practice many boot makers still use today. If you want to read up a little more on Tony Lama, here’s a great link.

    Lucchese Boots Made In USA

I constantly catch myself mispronouncing the name Lucchese. I used to say it like (Loo-cheese), but this is so wrong! It’s pronounced (Loo – Casey) is the proper way just in case you didn’t know.

This is another legendary boot made by yep, you guessed it, an Italian immigrant. A pair of Lucchese cowboy boots are absolutely amazing. If you haven’t tried on a pair, you really need to get on it. They are absolutely gorgeous and a piece of western art if you ask me. I told you Italians were known for their shoes and Lucchese has definitely hit it out of the park with their amazing cowboy boots.

Lucchese Cowboy Boots Made In The USAClick Above Image To See Some Amazing Lucchese Cowboy Boots

A little older, Lucchese started back in 1883. Started by Sam Lucchese and his brothers from Sicily, they set up shop in San Antonio, Texas and believe it or not, his main customer was the U.S. Army. You have to love those government contracts! Like Tony Lama, Lucchese invested heavily in new techniques in order to create handmade high quality cowboy boots allowing them to increase numbers and production.

Lucchese has since moved from San Antonio to El Paso, Texas USA. Lucchese is often recognized for being worn by celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Wayne, other big celebrities and a couple of United States presidents. One of the greatest pairs of boots that you can wear made right here in the USA. To learn more about Lucchese, you can find them on Wikipedia right here.

    Cowboy Boots Made In Texas

Cowboy Boots Made In Texas, USA!
Cowboy Boots Made In Texas / USA

I’ve been involved in the cowboy boot world now for quite some time and I absolutely love them. Sometimes I just like to go online and see new styles, new leathers and colors. There is an ever-changing landscape of different cowboy boot toe types also, but that’s a whole other article.

One thing I have learned is that most cowboy boots are yes, made in the USA, but more specifically made in Texas. Sure, you have some here and there that may be made in Oklahoma, New Mexico, etc… but these are mainly little “mom-and-pop” type shops. Trust me, there is nothing wrong with that and I would probably put any of those up against boot makers in Texas. When it comes down to it, all cowboy boots made in the USA. But……..why are so many boots made in Texas? Why are so many of the big names like Lucchese, Tony Lama, Stallion, Rios Of Mercedes based in Texas? This is a question I have asked myself plenty of times and to be honest, I really don’t know. I can guess, but that’s about it.

I really don’t think the answer is hard to figure out though. I mean it’s Texas. in my eyes Texas is the “hub” of western lifestyle in the United States. Texas is huge and has a little of everything when it comes to big cities, fashion, amount of people living there, western influence in clothes and of course cowboy boots. Don’t mess with Texas cowboy boots. That’s for sure!

Men’s & Women’s Cowboy Boots Made In The USA

If you are looking for a great pair of cowboy boots for men or women, of course there is only one choice. I’m not talking about one brand, but over all one choice and that’s a pair of cowboy boots made in the USA. There are some great boots made in Mexico, but why in the heck would you do that? If you have several pairs of boots made in Texas or Oklahoma, etc…, fine, get a pair from somewhere else just to check them out. But if you are buying your first pair, you have to go American. See what all the fuss is about and support U.S. workers. Besides that, you aren’t gonna find a better pair of boots when it comes to looks, style, and quality.

Another thing I want to mention is the state of the economy here in the U.S. No matter if it’s good or bad, the effect of buying right here in the USA does not go unnoticed. It’s a boost for everyone because it’s effects trickle throughout the country. Spending here means food on the table for Americans plain and simple. Western boots in the USA is the way to go in my opinion and it actually makes me feel good purchasing a pair of the finest cowboy boots ever made!

Wearing Boots From East To West – I Hope This Helped

I hope this article gave you a jump or a little guidance on some quality brand names made in the USA. People from all over the country and even all over the world are always on the hunt for the best. They want the best car, the best phone, the best this or that. It’s the same for cowboy boots. Why would you want to settle for 2nd best? If you are going to take anything away from this article, I hope it’s that cowboy boots made in the USA are the best. Hands down. No competition. Second place can’t even be seen in the rear view mirror.

Lol, that may be a little over the top, but I pretty much believe in it. We have a lot of reviews and suggestions on this site about some super high quality cowboy boots for both men and women. If you have any questions about any of them, please let us know down below in the comment section and maybe another viewer can help out or we will definitely answer your questions if we can. I (we) here at We heart strongly support buying cowboy boots made in the USA not only for the economic advantage it gives our great country, but we also want you to have the best cowboy boot out there.

I only mentioned a few brands up top, but don’t forget, there are still many other brands made here in the states. Be sure to do your due diligence and explore a little. That’s why the internet was created. You never know what you are gonna find out there and you just might stumble on to your next little personal treasure. Cowboy boots aren’t just for cowboys anymore, remember that. They have been the “it thing” for a while now and I don’t see them slowing down anytime soon. If you find a brand you like, do a little research and see if they were made in the USA or somewhere else. I would bet money they will be from Texas (lol), but you never know. Good luck on your hunt and as always we hope that we’ve helped you to find your new favorite pair of handmade cowboy boots Made in the USA!

  • 5 Things Wearing Cowboy Boots Say About A Person – Might Be Surprised

5 Things Wearing Cowboy Boots Say About A Person – Might Be Surprised

What does wearing cowboy boots say about a person now I was talking with Will Roman of Chisos boots and you guys probably seen that interview and he said something that really struck me during that interview:

“People who wear cowboy boots are a little different than the rest of Society at Large you know, it’s like pulling on the uniform you know like you know that you’re standing out a little and you know that you have a responsibility behave a certain way and I think that what I’ve seen the people who were drawn to boots, that come from Texas or outside of Texas, ummm there is this, there’s almost an ethos that comes with it that these are the types of people that look out for their neighbors.”  Will Roman, Chisos Boots

And it got me thinking, you know what does wearing cowboy boots says about a person? So that’s what we’re going to talk about today. Let’s get into it.

5 Things Wearing Cowboy Boots Says About A Person by Jeremiah Craig

But first I think it’s important to get one type of person who wears cowboy boots out of the way and that is the person who wears cowboy boots to country concerts and other stereotypical events but never wears them anywhere else. It’s really disappointing to me when I see these comments on Twitter where it’s like “I’m going to a country concert can I borrow anybody’s cowboy boots?” It’s like you should have cowboy boots to begin with. Those people are posers and you shouldn’t trust them at all. Here’s the thing though, there’s a caveat to that one thing. If they own up to it and they say “yeah I’m just wearing these boots so I fit in, just like whatever it’s cool like this is just part of the thing.”, then they have some potential. Now that we have that person out of the way, what about the regular boot wearers? Maybe not every day boot wearers, but maybe a few times a week. What about those folks? What does wearing cowboy boots say about them? Well for me it comes down to five things.

Pinto Ranch Western Wear and Cowboy Boots BannerClick image to view all the great western wear & premium cowboy boots from Pinto Ranch

    Cowboy Boots – Appreciating Quality

person who likes cowboy boots appreciates quality, not only in the products that they use and wear throughout their life, but also in the people that they associate themselves with. If we think about why the cowboy boot is such a high-quality product, we think about the history of it and why it was created that way. So I know a lot of folks like to say that the cowboy boots started around like the Civil War, but the Civil War boot wasn’t very well-built at all. So when folks started to move west after the Civil War they needed better boots, so boot makers in Kansas and Texas and along those lines before you get way out west, they created a very high quality boot so that people can explore the New Frontiers.

These days when it comes to quality, I hate to say it, but I like some of the big named brand expensive cowboy boots. I’ve written an article about them “Expensive cowboy boots” and it talks about Stallion, Lucchese, Rios of Mercedes, etc… I love some of these boots and the history in which they represent. Most of these boots I just listed are also featured in our article “The Top 10 cowboy boot brands” and there are also a couple brands listed there dealing entirely on ladies cowboy boots.

Wearing Cowboy Boots – Comfortable Exploring New Frontiers

So this is another thing that I think about when I see somebody who wears boots and what it says about that person is that they are comfortable exploring new frontiers. Now I’m not talking about like outdoor Frontiers, because far as the U.S. is concerned like the west was the last time, maybe Alaska, but what other frontiers are there now? There’s lots of Frontiers. There’s frontiers in business, there’s frontiers in education, there’s frontiers online, there’s frontiers everywhere and the people who wear cowboy boots are not afraid to explore new frontiers because they associate themselves with a piece of clothing, a piece of Footwear that was made to handle New Frontiers you know what I’m saying? And then on top of that we’re getting into the third thing that I think about.

This is the place to buy the best boots – Hands down!

Cowboy Boot Wearers Are Respectful & Considerate

I think it says that they are respectful and considerate of others, but at the same time they’re not ones to take s**t from people, you know what I’m saying! So we can be respectful and considerate and have empathy for somebody else’s situation. Not judge them right off the bat. Part of being respectful is not generalizing as well.

So all of these things, 1. Appreciating quality 2. Taking advantage of new frontiers 3. Being respectful and considerate of others, that then leads into my last two points about what it says to wear cowboy boots as a person.

5 Things Cowboy Boots Say About You

    Uniqueness And Individuality

Your uniqueness and individuality! So maybe not down in Texas and some of you folks who are watching (Jeremiah’s video) these are just normal things to you right? But in the north and on the coasts, you know it’s not so popular to wear cowboy boots so it shows your uniqueness and your individualist approach towards your style and towards the way you want to live your life but finally it shows that…

    Cowboy Boot Wearers Have Confidence

You have confidence! And having each one of those things: appreciating quality, taking advantage of New Frontiers, by also that I mean, you know, you’re not afraid to put yourself out there and learn new things. You’re being respectful, you’re unique, you’re not afraid to live life. That’s where the confidence comes from, that’s where the confidence comes from. Those are my 5 things. That’s what it says to wear cowboy boots as a person. I’m talking about both men and women here, because wearing cowboy boots is all the same when you’re human being. What do you guys think?

    Owning Cowboy Boots In Conclusion

As you might have notices, all 5 of Jeremiah’s observations about the people that wear cowboy boots are pretty flattering characteristics for a person to have to say the least in my opinion. Cowboy boots aren’t something that you “have to grow up with” or something where you “have to like country music” or “you have to know how to ride a horse”. Lol, it’s a state of mind if you ask me. There are plenty of people in the city that love cowboy boots and wear them. If you know any of these people, I bet they possess many of the characteristics mentioned above. If you really get to know them, they most likely possess all of them. I bet if you go ahead and thing about it, you probably possess these same qualities. You know what that means? Time for some cowboy boots!

If you are here to learn about cowboy boots, or are looking to buy a pair, do us both a favor and look at the best cowboy boots money can buy and head on over to Pinto Ranch and check out not only their top quality boots, but all of their western wear. • Men’s Short Cowboy Boots – A Pleasant Surprise You’ll Love

Men’s Short Cowboy Boots – A Pleasant Surprise You’ll Love

Most of my time lately has been taken up about one kind of cowboy boot or another. Sometimes it’s ostrich skin boots, sometimes it’s caiman or some other exotic skin boots. Some by Lucchese or some by Tony Lama. We’ve talked about many different styles of boots made from exotic leathers, toe types, and even what you can wear with them. Today I want to talk about men’s short cowboy boots. Sometimes referred to as “ankle boots”. When we say short, we are of course talking about the shaft of the boot.

The boots in particular range from a 7-inch shaft to an 8-inch shaft, nothing taller. The norm for a cowboy boot is anywhere from 10 to 13 inches in men’s boots. I’m sure there are some others that very a little taller or a little shorter, but as I said, this is the norm.

Stallion Short Cowboy Boots – Truly A Handmade Cowboy Boot!

Why Would You Want A Short Cowboy Boot?

Well, that is a good question and I hope I have some good answers for you.

The first reason that comes to mind is the style of the boot itself. With a short shaft, this gives you options on what you can wear them with. A regular long pair of cowboy boots you pretty much are confined to wearing them with a boot cut pair of jeans or a loose pair of dress pants. Regular fitting jeans or lord help me, a pair of skinny jeans are pretty much out of the question. With a pair men’s short cowboy boots, they are designed to wear with just about anything. The top of the boot is pretty form fitting to your leg unlike a pair of boots with a taller shaft like regular cowboy boots. So if you have a favorite pair of Levi’s or Wranglers that aren’t boot cut, these boots will look perfect with them. There are several different types of pant styles being worn with cowboy boots today. Sometimes a pair of short boots go better with one style than another.

Another side note when it comes to style, I basically talked about the style of the boot and how it affects wardrobe. I didn’t mention though how cool these boots look. They are a good-looking boot. They are kind of cross between a normal cowboy boot that you typically think of and a nice pair of Italian dress shoes. The ladies actually love these boots. When I wear a pair and when a woman notices them, I always get a compliment on how great they look or how fashionable I am. Something to that effect. It’s pretty funny, but I’ll take it.

Second reason you might want to get a pair of men’s short cowboy boots is comfort. Now this doesn’t affect me, but it may affect you. Some people just don’t like cowboy boots because of the shaft but they still like the overall look of the boot. Hey, that’s just personal preference and I respect that. To each his own. With a pair of short cowboy boots, when you slip on a pair of jeans, you still get the look of a cowboy boot (that’s because it is a cowboy boot lol). This is a win win situation for you if the comfort of a regular boot is an issue.

  • Are Cowboy Boots Comfortable? Learn How And Why They Are

Are Cowboy Boots Comfortable? Learn How And Why They Are

Today I thought I would tackle a myth, or at least the subject of a myth, that that is brought up quite frequently when talking about cowboy boots. It is especially brought up by people that down own a pair of boots or have never even worn a pair for that matter. Are cowboy boots comfortable?

That has to be one of the most prevalent questions that I have come across either online or even when I’m out and actually have a friend, acquaintance or even a complete stranger that sees me wearing a pair come up and ask me. I have actually taken my boot off in the middle of a bar and had a person try them on. Hey, I don’t really care what you may think about that lol, I had a clean pair of sock on and stuff like that doesn’t matter to me anyway. I just wanted the person to try them on and know exactly what I was talking about. Keep in mind that after talking to them for a minute or two we realized we were pretty close to the same shoe size. Also, a couple of beer might have been involved, but I digress, cowboy boots being or comfortable or not was the main thing on my mind at the time. After explaining the correct way to put on a pair of boots and hearing the “thump” of his heel popping in, it was a little amusing to watch them walk around inside the bar and have a very surprised look on their face. I’m really not sure how I feel about it though. The look on their face was as if “wow, I can’t believe these feel that good”. I mean what do people who have never worn cowboy boots think? Do they think it’s like walking around with pebbles in your shoes or something! Anyway, let’s get into some more detail.

Why Do Some Think Cowboy Boots Are Uncomfortable?

The first thing that comes to mind is the traditional toe. People think they have to jam their toes in their and hey, I get it, that would be super uncomfortable. The truth of the matter is, it’s just not true. If you get the proper fit of boots, you won’t have to worry about your toes being crowded in “The toe box”. Square toe, pointed toe, Roper toe, etc…, it doesn’t matter what the toe style of the boot is. If you have the proper fit, you won’t have to worry about the style, you can wear whatever you want in comfort.

    Why Are My Heels Slipping?

Are Cowboy Boots Comfortable - Heel SlipLet’s say a person who has never worn a pair of cowboy boots walks into a store or buys a pair online, or tries on a pair from some knucklehead in a bar. Say these are some really high priced boots and they truly look magnificent. He puts them on, takes a couple steps, turn around and takes a couple steps back and says “These are uncomfortable, I don’t like the way my heel slips in them”.

Well, don’t worry, but that is supposed to happen when you get a new pair of boots. It’s supposed to slip up to 3/4 of an inch. Once you “break them in” the slipping will subside a bit. The boot will conform to your foot and feel completely natural. After that, you won’t get a second thought. When you try on a pair of handmade boots, you want to feel that heel slip. If it isn’t slipping or it’s tight against the heel of your foot, that means the boot is too small and guess what? Yeah, the boot is going to be uncomfortable.

The Overall Look, Big Shaft, Tall Heels Look Uncomfortable

Cowboy boots can be pretty intimidating. If you’ve never worn a pair, are a guy, and never wore a pair of combat boots, then there’s a good chance you’ve never worn anything like them. I’m not saying they are like combat boots, but you’ve probably never worn anything that’s had a tall upper shaft like combat boots or cowboy boots. That feeling of wearing something like that for the first time can be uncomfortable and if you don’t have the right pair of jeans, there’s a whole other problem that you have to contend with. You are gonna want some boot cut jeans to allow for the shaft of the boot. Once you have the correct jeans and take a little bit of time to get used to the shaft of the boot, that should solve the problem of the shaft being uncomfortable.

Tall heels definitely might not be something you are used to wearing if you usually wear sneakers or even a nice pair of dress shoes. I really don’t think it will take very long to get used to a pair of heels. Remember, the tallest heels you find on a pair of boots is gonna be about an inch. Some are even shorter than that. A pair of Ropers has a really short heel. The looks might be pretty intimidating, but I don’t think you will even notice it. Sneakers, dress shoes, etc… either have built in heels into the shoes or have a modest heel to them. Don’t let a cowboy boot heel bother you, they are definitely in style.

Ever Had A Pair Of Cowboy Boots That Were Uncomfortable To Your Ears?

Are Cowboy Boots Comfortable - Squeaky Boots

Yeah, you heard me right, your ears. No, this didn’t happen in the bar after several beers either (thank god). Every once in a blue moon you might try on a new pair of handmade cowboy boots and there will be a squeak when you walk. I don’t care what you are wearing on your foot, this would annoy the heck out of me. When I put on a pair of cowboy boots, I want them to not only be comfortable on my feet, I want them to be comfortable to my ears lol! The reason for this squeak is probably in the heel.

The heel on a pair of handmade cowboy boots are made from stacked leather. That is several pieces of leather stacked on top of each other to a height of the heel of your cowboy boot. The soft supple leather will rub against each other and there is that annoying squeak that is bringing you some unwanted attention. Fear not though, there is an easy fix. Grab some leather conditioner and rub it along the outside of your boot. This is something you may do every once in a while with a nice pair of dress shoes or cowboy boots, but this time do it on the heel as well. This will soften the leather and cause it to slightly expand and presto, no more squeak. A common leather conditioner is flax seed oil or you can buy a bottle at a pretty reasonable price. Coconut oil can also be used as a substitute for leather conditioner. Make sure you clean your boots first before using either. You can find all you need from the article we wrote on Boot Stuff and Accessories.

Cowboy Boots – Comfortable, Stylish & An American Icon

In my opinion, handmade cowboy boots are some of the most comfortable things you can wear. One of the biggest considerations in a pair of any leather footwear is the quality of the leather. The finer the leather, the more comfortable those shoes or boots are gonna be. If you are looking around at any of the boots mentioned on this site, most are from Pinto Ranch. I can tell you with firsthand knowledge, Pinto Ranch sells boots with only the finest quality leathers. Once you get the right fit, you are gonna have a pair of boots that are super comfortable.

If you are a little hesitant in getting a pair of cowboy boots, my advice to you is try a pair on. Don’t let the question of “Are cowboy boots comfortable” scare you off. Try them on for yourself. Cowboy boots are more popular than ever. They come in many different styles, colors, types of leathers these days. There is practically a pair for everyone.

If you have any questions, requests, or just want to chat about some great handmade cowboy boots or other questions about cowboy boots and if they are comfortable or not, please let us know below. I hoped this post helped you out in your quest for a great pair of cowboy boots. As always we hope that we helped you to find your new favorite pair of cowboy boots!

  • How Should Cowboy Boots Fit – Step By Step Guide

How Should Cowboy Boots Fit – Step By Step Guide

I would think that one of the scariest things about buying a pair of cowboy boots for the first time would be getting the fit right. When I went to buy my first pair of boots I thought to myself “How should cowboy boots fit?”.

This is a great question and to get the proper fit in a pair of cowboy boots, there are 3 things that you need to take into consideration.  First is your instep which is the top of your foot and the space between your foot and the boot. Not tight, but not loose either.  The second thing is the width of the boot which would be the ball of your foot and the widest part of your foot. You don’t want that tight, just a little bit of play. Third thing is the heel slip. The heel slip is a little confusing to non cowboy boot wearers but should be around 3/8 of an inch. You can read more about heel slip down below.  Make sure these 3 things are obtained and you will have a great pair of fitting boots.

Now what? What if they don’t have any friends that have boots or really aren’t an expert in the subject. I have literally asked a person before to see what their response was and I basically just got a blank type look on their face with that famous arms out in front of them with their palms up and the lifting of their shoulders. “I just put them on and they fit”. Boom, case closed.

Watch This Video for the 3 Keys of a Proper Fit!

Only if it were just that easy. I don’t want to scare you and think this is some long-drawn-out process. It really isn’t. But I do want to make sure you understand how important it is. You usually make sure when you buy a pair of jeans or shirt that it fits correctly right? Yeah, you can actually have a little leeway when it comes to just about anything you wear. Little loose, little tight, little short, and a little long. Most of the time it really doesn’t matter. As with just about everything, there is always an exception to the rule. When it comes to footwear, I don’t think you should play around. The wrong fit in a pair of cowboy boots or any other type of boots for that matter can directly result in pain throughout your feet and entire body. You’ve might already experienced this and I will bet money that you know someone who has as well.

So whatever you do, get it right. The purpose of this article is to help you do just that. There’s basically 3 things to do to get proper boot fit and we are going to explain those things below. It will literally take you seconds to do it, you just have to know what you are looking for and below we are gonna show you.

Instep – Top Of The Foot And How It Fits In The Boot

When you put your foot in the boot, the first thing you want is a little bit of resistance with your heel on the back of the boot and the top of your foot going into the “vamp” area of the boot. Push your foot in and what you are looking for is that famous cowboy boot “pop”, the sound of your foot going all the way into the boot.

The instep you want it to be Not tight, Not loose, but snug!

What you are looking for is right across the top of your foot, the instep area. You don’t want any slack in that area. It’s holding its own, basically holding your foot in the boot. The instep area is actually what keeps your foot in place. In a western boot you don’t have laces. With a shoe you have a little leeway and can tighten or loosen your shoe. Not so much in a boot. If it doesn’t fit, then it doesn’t fit. That’s why it’s so important to get the instep correct.

Width, Or The Ball Of Your Foot Area

The width area of your boot is the ball area of your foot, the widest part of your foot. It’s also where your foot flexes when you are taking a step. There’s multiple widths in cowboy boots and pretty much all types of boots for that matter. The “D” width is your typical or standard with. A 9 1/2 D being a pretty standard example of what you would see for a pair of cowboy boots, but of course there are bigger sizes. A wider boot size would be the “EE” or double E. You really won’t see anything else.

For width, you don’t want that tight either, but a little bit of play or room is perfectly acceptable.

The Heel And How Much Slip You Need

The heel slip is a little more difficult to explain and illustrate. When you take a step, the foot that is behind you or pushing off, the ball of your foot is flexing and your heel lifts off the ground, that is where you will get your “heel slip”. Your heel of your foot will actually raise up in your boot. The agreed amount is 3/8 of an inch. That is just under a half inch.

-The more room you have in your instep is gonna lead to more heel slip. That’s why you want your instep snug, it will directly affect your heel slip.

You always want a little bit of heel slip when you are taking a step. The reason for that is when the boot in new, the sole is a little stiff, a boot that is broken in will be way more flexible. When wearing a flexible boot, the heel of your boot automatically rises off the ground when taking a step and your heel slip will decrease. That is why you want about a 3/8″ heel slip when buying a new pair of boots. You can kind of do a give and take on that 3/8 depending on how flexible a pair of boots are when you buy them. A pair of ostrich boots might be a lot more flexible than say rattlesnake boots.

The Secret To Proper Boot Fit

How Should Cowboy Boots Fit - Boot AnatomyUse your pull straps to get that “pop” when pulling on your boots. They are there for a reason. The stitching and designs found on cowboy boots are there for looks, your pull straps are not. When you have a good pair of handmade cowboy boots, your pull straps will not fail you.

The big secret here is make sure the boot feels good on you! Don’t let anyone tell you this boot is your size because of the number stamped on the boot.

One of the biggest things that you need to know when trying out boots is that they are kind of like a pair of jeans when it comes to brands, they are all different. Man, wouldn’t it be nice if they were all the same? Lol, good luck with that. If you had 6 pairs of boots in your closet by say brands like Lucchese, Tony Lama, Stallion and Rios Of Mercedes, you could easily have 3 or 4 different sizes stamped inside the boot, but they all fit you perfectly.

Tips & Trick To Find The Perfect Fit For Your Cowboy Boots

    1. If you can, please get your foot measured.  This will save you some time in the store and of course is a must if you are ordering online.
    2. Go with what you know. If you already own a pair of boots, chances are you will be good ordering that size. The size is printed inside of the shaft in most cases.
    3. If you are between sizes, order a 1/2 size larger.
    4. It’s best to try a pair of boots on in the afternoon or evening.  You want to try them on after you’ve been on your feet for awhile which will give you a better representation of your true size.
    5. Wear the type of socks you intend on wearing with the new boots.  You don’t want to be wearing hunting socks or something.  This seems like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised! Believe it or not, some people don’t even wear socks with cowboy boots!
    6. Remember about heel slip when it comes to cowboy boots as mentioned in the beginning of this article. Heel slip is hugely important!
    7. Also as mentioned above, you want cowboy boots to be snug across the instep. Loose is bad and you won’t have a proper fit.  Your boots will stretch, so snugness is also key for a comfortable boot.

    Measuring Your Foot:

To measure the length of your foot, first place a ruler flat on the ground. Line up your heel at the end of the ruler. Measure your foot from your heel to your big toe. Then, simply use our size chart above to calculate your size to get proper fit.

    Foot Width:

Over 90% of the population is a normal width. If you are not sure of your width, chances are you wear a normal width. Boots are typically available in 6 widths: B (extra narrow), C (narrow), D (regular), E (wide), EE (extra wide), and EEE (triple wide). We suggest ordering your boots according to the size chart above. First, measure the length of your foot to find your base size. Then, measure the width of your foot across the widest part and find your corresponding width in your shoe size. When shopping cowboy boots, finding extra narrows or extra or triple wides is definitely a chore!

    Women’s Sizing

Many women like the look and styling of our men’s cowboy boots and use a simple conversion to find the right size. To determine what men’s size you wear, simply subtract 1.5 from your current ladies shoe size. For example, a ladies size 7 equals a mens 5.5.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is CheckPricesButtonLane.png

    Tips:

It may help to place your heel against a flat surface like a wall and measure from the wall to the tip of your big toe. Tracing your foot on paper can make it easier to get the right measurements also. If you have trouble measuring your own feet, you may want to visit your local shoe store and use their foot measuring device called a Brannock. If you find that you are between sizes, order 1/2 size up.

That Should Get You Well On Your Way On How Cowboy Boots Should Fit

I think I may have mentioned in the beginning of this article that it wold only take a minute to try on a pair of cowboy boots and to know if you found the right size. Truthfully it’s only seconds. Just remember the big 3, instep, width and slip and you will be good to go. With this information, I think it would be safe to say you are an expert on getting the right fit. It’s always a good think to be knowledgeable about something even if it’s something as small as getting the right pair of boots. On the other hand, you won’t ever have to worry about getting the wrong fit and potentially suffering the consequences of an improper fit.

One other thing that may be in the back of your mind after all of this is “Why would I buy cowboy boots online when I have to make absolutely sure I have the right fit?. Well, there’s a couple of reasons for this. It’s hard to find some of these boots. A lot of the boots I have talked about here at We Heart are exclusively sold only at Pinto Ranch. A lot more of them just aren’t offered at your every day western store, so where are you going to try them on. These boots can become pretty price (well worth it though) and you shouldn’t have to settle. Luckily, if you are on an online boot site and if they are worth their weight in salt, they will have a great return / exchange program. Two reasons I’m really big on Pinto Ranch is because of their service and their exchange program. If the boot doesn’t fit correctly, send it back (for free) and they will send you another size (for free). No extra cost to you. “We believe the right fit is the most important thing, and that is sometimes hard to achieve with an online order.”. You will get the perfect fit, plain and simple.

I hoped this post helped you out in your quest for a great pair of fitting boots. As always we hope that we helped you to find your new favorite pair of cowboy boots!

  • Women’s Red Cowboy Boots – Stand Aside Little Black Dress

Women’s Red Cowboy Boots – Stand Aside Little Black Dress

I thought it was about time to bring a little color into the cowboy boot world! A beautiful boot and one that is very popular at Pinto Ranch. The red leather is burnished which is a polished look to give these boots a richer look that definitely stands out. Full of ivory stitching gives the boots a traditional western look and really pops against the burnished red leather.

One thing that really stands out to me is the distressed heel and outsole. I absolutely love that look! It gives these classic women’s red cowboy boots a vintage look that will only get better the more you wear them. Vintage is in whether it be vintage cowboy boots or vintage western wear. If there is one thing that you can count on, it’s that Old Gringo always puts out a great handmade cowgirl boot combining vintage charm with contemporary styling.

Women’s Red Cowboy Boots, Only Top Quality Here

If you’ve browsed We Heart Cowboy Boots at all, you’ve probably noticed we don’t do cheap! When I say cheap, I mean these boots aren’t gonna go lame on you the second time that you wear them. You aren’t gonna find a hundred dollar pair of boots on here that last 10 years because in my opinion, those don’t really exist. It’s not the norm anyway. Every pair of guys or girls pair of cowboy boots we talk about here are handmade and are seriously gonna last you for decades. Even with regular wear, they are gonna last a lot longer than those $100 boots from Boot Barn or wherever else.

Great fashion tips for wearing red or any other women’s cowboy boots

From some $300 boots to a pair costing over $1,500, you are definitely getting what you pay for. A lot of these boots already have reviews on them and you should read them. The biggest complaint I have seen is about maybe somebody getting a pair that didn’t fit correctly. That’s not a problem here because that is easily resolved at not cost to you. I haven’t seen any complaints about quality or service. Both of those things are second to none at Pinto Ranch and that’s why they are hands down my favorite place to shop and buy cowboy boots. They have the best styles from ladies ropers and tons of sexy cowgirl boots that you are sure to love!

What’s your favorite color, red or black? Check out these great black cowboy boots for men and women!

But hey, it’s up to you. It’s your prerogative. Spend a little, get a little. The one thing I love about the brands that we talk about here is their name means something. It means quality, durability, style, and most importantly it means that the satisfaction of their customers is their first priority. They all have a money back guarantee, but you won’t need it because they do right by making the best boots out there. Besides the manufacturers guarantee on quality, Pinto Ranch steps in and gives you a refund / exchange policy that doesn’t cost you a penny and is second to none. In my opinion, all of this makes the thought of online boot buying a no brainer. Feel confident in not only the boot buying process, but how great you will feel wearing these beautiful boots!

These cowgirl boots are tall with a mixture of classy and sexy all in one. They make a statement without even trying with so much style they had to make them this tall to hold it all in! The tomahawk stitch pattern in the shaft is absolutely amazing! The stitching is in cream and red and done very subtly but elegantly at the same time.

Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake Boots – Dangerous Boots Without The Bite

I updated our exotic cowboy boots post the other day and there was one type of exotic skin that I didn’t put on there. It wasn’t because it wasn’t a sought after type of boot or anything, it was more so because there are only a few pairs of boots offered at Pinto Ranch that falls under this category and that is a pair of Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake boots. I wanted to save it for its own post because come on, they are pretty awesome and deserve an article with me giving them my full attention.

Popularity Of Snakeskin Boots On The Rise

Just the thought of snakeskin being made into a pair of boots is pretty mind boggling. You definitely know a pair of snakeskin boots when you see it. Very scaly like crocodile or alligator boots, just much smaller scales. Snakeskin boots also usually have a unique pattern and in this case we are talking about an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake. That pattern is definitely unmistakable.

    Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake Boots Durability

Snake is considered an exotic leather and I think that maybe because many snakeskin boots are made from python which unless you live in Florida is an exotic snake lol. But as I mentioned, this is the Eastern Diamondback and you can find them right here in the good ole USA mainly in the southeastern U.S., Mississippi, and Louisiana.
