I don’t care if you’ve paid a hundred dollars or a thousand dollars, I’m sure you want them to last as long as possible. Hello everyone! I’ve decided to do a review of Tony Lama boots men or Tony Lama’s men’s boots in proper English. I’m hoping to give you the information that you need to know to make an informed decision on whether you would like to have a pair of these boots. I’m gonna break it down detailing Comfort, Durability, and Style / Trends. Comfort – A Boot With Great Feel And Support

As any boot, Tony Lama’s need to be broken in and start feeling a little better on your feet with every passing day of wear. You definitely want to wear them on some pavement to roughen up the soles. Are Cowboy Boots Cool?

Now I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned the history of the cowboy boot in a previous article. Originating somewhere in Europe as a riding boot or something like that, let’s admit it, the cowboy boot became famous here in the United States. If you are a little older, you may remember those old GE commercials “We didn’t make the light bulb, we just made it better!”. Well, the same story applies to the cowboy boot. Below, I’m gonna be talking about why cowboy boots are cool, and why you should be wearing a pair. Hey, there are gonna still be “haters” out there. Don’t worry about that, it doesn’t matter what we would be talking about, there are always haters. After this article, feel free to throw in your two cents in the comment section below. let me know why you like or dislike cowboy boots or even share any stories you have pertaining to them.

I Have 3 Words For You: Westerns, Westerns, And Westerns!

Now I’m not sure whose name to throw out here first. The first person that comes to most peoples mind is “The duke”. John Wayne is definitely iconic when it comes to the great American western movie. I mean, if the Duke is wearing cowboy boots, I want to be wearing cowboy boots. His walk might have been a little strange (see scene from the movie The Bird Cage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane), but it wasn’t from the boots, so don’t worry about that. I hate to say it, but to me, there is somebody even cooler than the Duke when it comes to westerns and cowboy boots. Yeah, you guessed it, the man, the myth, the legend, Mr. Clint Eastwood. If you have lived under a rock your whole life and never seen any of Clint’s westerns (known as spaghetti westerns because they weren’t out of Hollywood, but made by the Italians), then you are really missing out. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, A Fistful of Dollars, and many more to name a few. Classic movies and Clint of course is sporting some bad A$$ boots as usual. There is just something about Clint Eastwood that no other actor can come close to in westerns. I don’t know if it’s the cowboy boots or the way he spits tobacco on everything from a dogs head to a scorpion or a combination of both.

Up And Coming Musicians Wearing Cowboy Boots Again!

I like all types of music. Oldies, classic rock, top 40, a little rap, and country. I would have to say that classic rock and country music are probably my favorite. The last couple of years, I could hardly tell the difference between some country songs and top 40. What might even be more disturbing is that I couldn’t tell much difference between the singers as well. It was either country singers not looking very country or top 40 singers looking a little too country! Jeez, Now I’m pretty confused.

I think it has simmered down a little. I have seen a lot of up and coming country stars getting back to their roots when it comes to fashion. Nothing beats a good pair of jeans and a pair of cowboy boots, that’s for sure. Definitely been seeing some very cool cowboy boots on most of them. Now I’m not saying this is a required thing when singing country music, but come on, it’s the least you can do making all that dough. New singers like Nikki Lane, John Pardi, and Langhorne Slim and regularly seen in some awesome boots and representing their music style with honor. About the top 40 guys and others wearing cowboy boots? Yeah, it looks good. keep it up. I really don’t have a problem with it. And let’s not forget the ladies. I don’t care if they are wearing jeans or a sexy dress with cowboy boots, I like it all!

Besides The Usual Suspects, Who Else Is Wearing Them?

Well, the list is long and distinguished….. (see the movie Top Gun for the rest of that line). From the everyday Texan, musicians, actors, presidents, and presidents that used to be actors, everyone is wearing cowboy boots these days. As I mentioned earlier, it’s not just country musicians, but rockers, heavy metal guys, rappers, and everything in between. Western boots are a fashion staple from coast-to-coast and every country after that. Style, comfort and a look that just can’t be imitated by any other footwear, There’s nothing like a good pair of boots.

Why are all these people wearing them you may ask:

Well, that might be a hard question to answer. Everyone I mentioned above might have a different reason. Who am I to know exactly what they are thinking. Above I mentioned presidents even wear them. The first president that comes to mind for me is Ronald Reagan. The first for you might be Jimmy Carter. Now I’m pretty sure both grew up in the environment where family and friends were wearing them, so that’s no big surprise. When it comes to actors, I would have to guess just one word, and that word is “style”. Western boots are definitely in and don’t show any signs of slowing down. I mean, they have always been in style to some degree, but these days, it seems more so than ever. I would have to say it’s probably the same when it comes to musicians. There’s no denying that actors, singers, generally famous people set the trends when it comes to fashion, and one of those trends happens to be western style or cowboy boots.

In Conclusion

Hey, I hate to say “Everyone is wearing them, don’t you think it’s time you do!”. Yeah, I hate that too. I remember my first pair of boots. I think I was 8. I hated them! In all fairness, I don’t think they fit. Now I’m pretty sure my mom bought them 2 sizes too big so I could wear them for a year or two. Since they were to big, Now I’m pretty sure I walked a little funny when I wore them. Hey, nothing to worry about when your 8 and walking funny right? None of the other kids are gonna say anything. Yeah, right! Well, it’s a whole different story today. Anyone who is anyone owns a pair and loves them. Hey, if you don’t believe me, ask around. If your a guy, ask some of your girl friends. If your a girl, then you probably already know. They look and feel great and you can basically wear them anywhere and have a ton of options when it comes to style, color, etc… to choose from. Check in to a new pair of boots or don’t forget vintage boots, they are always in style. You will be super excited when adding pair to your wardrobe and they will definitely be conversation starters. Just make sure you do one thing. Get the right size!

Different Styles Of Cowboy Boots
So you finally decided to dive into the world of owning your first pair of cowboy boots. Heck, maybe you already have a pair or several pairs of boots, but are looking to change it up a bit. I have put together a basic guide on what to look for, the different names, and some materials you can also find that make up these wonderful pieces of footwear that are considered by many as works of art. Way back in yester year, there wasn’t too much to choose from. Lucky for you, cowboy boots have come a long way. There are many different styles of cowboy boots, colors, and types of material to choose from. I’m sure you will find something to your liking that fits your style.

Toe Shape – Something You Usually Don’t Think About

When it comes to cowboy boots, toe shape is everything. You should consider yourself lucky that you have such a wide range of looks and styles to choose from. Each toe shape says something unique about you as a person. There are four main types of toe shaped boots.

You can read a in depth article we did on cowboy boot toe types here. Keep in mind, this isn’t every toe shape out there, but it’s a good place to start and will help you to “get to know your cowboy toes a little better”!
1. Pointed Toe: Pointed toe cowboy boots is what usually comes to mind when you think of “cowboy boots” or see your favorite cowboy on stage and screen. You may think these boots will be uncomfortable because they would squeeze your toes together, but have no fear, the boot maker adds extra room at the end of the boot to accommodate for this. Whatever size your foot is, you won’t have a problem wearing that same size in pointed toe cowboy boots.
2. Rounded Toe: Exactly the opposite of pointed toes would be the rounded toe cowboy boots. These boots have a more comfortable and casual look to them and are great for people with wider feet. You may want to look into the “Roper” style cowboy boot if you have wider feet or prefer that extra room for your toes. These boots were
  made for spending lots of time on your feet or working around the barn.If that’s what your looking for, this boot is the perfect choice!
3. Square Toe: The square toe boot is a recent addition to the cowboy boot family. They really don’t serve much purpose except for being a fashion statement. You can find square toe boots with either a long pointed toe that end up squaring off at the end, or a bit wider that square off like and resemble a Roper style boot. Pointed toe boots favor the person on horseback where rounded toe favors the person on foot working around the barn. The square toe boot will work for either of these situations.
4. Broad Squared Toe: This boot is basically a variation of the square toed boot, but with more room. This style of boot was practically nonexistent a couple years ago, but has become super popular as of late because of its stylish looks and being super comfortable. The perfect boot for someone on their feet for long periods of time and for someone that might not be so into the pointed toe look (like me). These are the 4 main toe types if you ask me. There are other variations that look similar and it seems like brands like Lucchese, Tony Lama, Rios of Mercedes and others come up with different variants of toe types all the time. We wrote an article on cowboy boots with different toe types here.

Alligator, Ostrich, And Rattlesnake – Oh My! All Types Of Different Leathers

Well, if you thought picking out what type of toed boot you need was fun, now it gets real interesting! When you would buy a pair of dress shoes, basically your choices are leather or what? That’s pretty much it if they are a pair of quality shoes. Running shoes consist of leather or it’s ugly cousin “pleather”. Not much of a selection and really there isn’t a need for it.

This is why I mentioned in the opening paragraph that cowboy boots are sort of a art form. I mean seriously, alligator, ostrich, rattlesnake, eel, are just some of the different leathers you can find in different style cowboy boots. You can practically get boots made out of anything these days. Some of it’s a little freaky if you ask me, but to each his own. I’m surprised Hannibal Lecter wasn’t wearing a pair in The Silence of the Lambs! Oh yeah, forgot to mention calfskin. This of course would be are most common type of boot and what you would see being worn by your typical cowboy. Here are some other materials that you could easily find though in case you are interested: alligator boots, snake, ostrich, lizard, eel, elephant, stingray, elk, buffalo, and the like. Haven’t you heard, exotic skin cowboy boots are in! I’m not that flashy of a person, so for me, I prefer calfskin leather. But hey, pick something that is you. Either way, they will be sure to be a conversation starter.
